Can Guinea Pigs hold scabies? If so, what can be used to treat it?
Probably not scabies but mites.Ours had it and after a course of injections from the vet and shifting the supplier of hay/straw (as that is where on earth they live) they are both fine .
How do you know it is scabies?
If in doubt embezzle the poor animal to the vets, they will know what to do..
They are totally prone to skin mites. You need veterinary guidance quickly. Guinea pigs are uptight little creatures and can go downhill hurriedly when sick. A breeder once told me of something to get made up from the chemist, but its so various years ago that I cant remember the name which is of no abet to you. The vet should be able to help out.
I agree, it's probably mites, they catch them from the straw/hay. walk to the vet and get a special shampoo. You can wipe them in the tub.
