My dad had a stroke a couple of years ago and his disappeared side is paralyzed. We have be hiring caregivers for him but the cost is starting to become a burden. A friend of mine suggested that we teach him self-care technique but I have not be able to see a book or instruction booklet. First talk to his doc in the region of the self care. He may know how to recommend some books for you and whether or not this is wise. Stroke victims involve special care and it take lots of dedicated hours to administer them all the time they involve. Good luck
