Talk to a doctor. It might be a fatty tumor, contained by which case you're 99% sure to be past the worst. It might be something else, too.
Depending on location it probably is a cyst. Don't try to pop it, leave it alone. Sometimes they own to be removed, others can be left. If it's a ganglion cyst hard by your wrist, you can use a hard cover book and smash the cyst. I wouldn't try it on other cysts though.

Where is it? What does it look like? How long hold you had it? You probably shouldn't try bursting it. Depending what it is, hot (not scalding) drizzling compresses can help.
Perhaps it's a cyst? Need more info - check beside your doctor.

Someone mentioned possible ganglion cyst and smashing it - this is NO longer a counsel. It can cause further trauma to the tissues around it and could make happen complications. I have one on my wrist, it sometimes hurts. Sometimes they can aspirate it next to a needle and inject cortisone. If that's what it is, it's not chancy or anything.
Cyst or cancer. Go see a doctor.
